Michel Mallard is best known as the winemaker for Domaine d'Eugénie in Vosne-Romanée - the ultra-prestigious Burgundy estate owned by Chateau Latour. We have sourced a tiny allocation of wines from one of the region's great winemakers from his own family vines.
For five generations the Mallard family have been producing gorgeous wines in the Côte de Beaune, while remaining almost unencountered by anyone on our Australian shores. They own 27 acres of vine on the hill of Corton and the surrounding villages of Ladoix and Aloxe-Corton - including four exemplary Grand Crus.
Neal Martin, vinous.com: "I have been visiting Michel Mallard’s winery in Ladoix for a number of years now. Of course, we became acquainted when I first met him at Domaine d’Eugénie in Vosne-Romanée where he continues to work, but I am equally interested in his family’s wines that congregate on the northern extreme of the Côte de Beaune. Mallard himself is a tall, athletic and garrulous man who divides his time overseeing winemaking for one of the wealthiest proprietors in the world with his own humbler wines that deserve more attention..."
William Kelley, robertparker.com: "A visit to Ladoix's 11.5-hectare Domaine Michel Mallard has been high on my "to do" list for several years, but I was unprepared for just how good these wines are when I finally realised this long-held aspiration. Vibrant, concentrated and seamless, these are terrific Burgundies that testify to impressive commitment to quality and attention to detail..."
Allen Meadows, Burghound: "The Mallard wines are really quite good and almost completely unknown outside of Burgundy. I would observe that the quality at this Domaine has skyrocketed in recent years and as the scores and comments confirm..."
The father and son team of Patrick and Michel Mallard jointly run the estate, which is named for Michel's grandfather. They own 27 acres of vine on the hill of Corton and the surrounding villages of Ladoix and Aloxe-Corton - including four exemplary Grand Crus.
